Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6
God called Abraham to a land He would show him. He did not have Siri or GPS to guide him to a specific address. Yet, what he did have was the God Positioning System. He heard the voice of the Lord and obeyed. He did not demand to know all the details. He simply obeyed the instruction given to him at the time. As Abraham was being led through the desert, the Lord provided every step of the way. He showed him exactly where the ground springs were so that he could dig wells. He provided all his needs and eventually led him to the promised land.
At times, our tendency is to desire to know all the details of God’s plan for our lives. However, we simply need to trust and obey Him in our daily decisions. We do not want to get ahead of God. Instead, let Him guide you and unveil the plan as He directs. Sometimes it’s just taking that next step of faith. Once we do, then the next step is revealed. As we trust God every day for His guidance, we will arrive at the destination He has planned for each of us. The key is to not allow worry or fear. Just follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and keep His Word as your anchor.
At times the Lord will call us to do things that don’t make sense to us. For instance, during a famine he called Elijah to a brook where he fed him with Ravens each day. When the brook dried up, instead of sending him to a wealthy family, he told Elijah to go to a poor widow’s house. This would not make sense. If a destitute widow does not even have enough money to purchase food to feed her own family, how can she feed Elijah? Yet, because both the widow and Elijah obeyed the Lord’s instruction, he was able to sustain them throughout the famine. God often uses what looks to be impossible to be the very key to our success and provision. Trust God and allow the GPS of the Holy Spirit to guide your every step of the way, even when it doesn’t make sense.
