“Death and life are in power of the tongue and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
Proverbs 18:21
Seeds are containers. In plants they contain the “embryo” of the plant, which is a miniature version of itself in a protective husk. The husk can protect it from damage until it is able to be planted in good soil. Once in that good soil, when watered and exposed to sunlight it begins to grow. A tiny seed can produce everything from massive oak trees, magnificent flowers to the plants that produce the fruits and vegetables we enjoy. The rules that the Lord has put in place for the seed is that it produces after its kind. If you plant an apple seed, you will get an apple tree that produces countless apples. If you plant a pumpkin seed, you will get a pumpkin vine which of course would produce pumpkins. The seed does not just contain one pumpkin or one apple. The seed has the principle of multiplication in it. It has infinite possibilities.
If a farmer planted a tomato seed and became very angry that it didn’t produce cucumbers, you would probably think the farmer was ill informed at minimum. Yet, so many Christians don’t realize that their words are seeds. Their words are containers that can either produce a harvest of blessings or cursings in their lives. Words are containers with “embryos” that produce after their kind. Jesus explains this beautifully in Mark 11:22-25: “And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you. What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” In other words, Jesus is letting us know that we can have what we say, if we believe. Yet so many people believe the worst for their life and say it and then get frustrated that their lives are not turning out well. They might keep saying things like “I can never get ahead. I’m just always chasing my tail. I pray and nothing happens, things only get worse.” Then they wonder why what they are saying is coming to pass. Their words are seeds that they are planting into their future. When spoken in faith, they begin to produce after their kind.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. The same is true of unbelief. If we keep speaking unbelief it will create more unbelief in our hearts. We must say only what we want to receive. Let our words be good seed that planted in the soil of our lives produces a great harvest of blessings! Be diligent to say only that which will bless you and improve your life. Be determined to plant good seed! Rest assured the word of God is always good seed! When you speak God’s promises you are planting the best most fruitful seed possible!
