“Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing….”
Isaiah 28: 9-12
Sometimes in life we can feel overwhelmed by all that has to be done. Maybe it’s a new healthier way of eating. Maybe you are trying to get your finances in order, trying to lose weight, or start your own business. Whatever is causing you to feel overwhelmed, DO NOT WORRY! Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJ) tells us: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
In Matthew 11:28, Jesus says: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden; and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” The quickest way to recognize when you are allowing yokes that are not of God to be put on you, is when you feel overwhelmed, or worried. It is a good litmus test to remind you to allow God’s anointing to destroy those yokes and just allow the yoke of Jesus to give you rest. God tells us to labor to enter into His rest. Therefore, as we increase our time in His word, seeking Him first, spending time in Praise and Worship and especially PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT, we find rest in Him. We then allow God to move on our behalf. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness: and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33
No matter what you are facing, whether you are attempting to become debt free, purchase a house, begin a marriage, or start a family; whatever it is, the scriptures say not to worry about how you are going to do it. Instead, Proverbs 16:3 says “Commit thy works unto the LORD and thy thoughts shall be established.” Job 22:28 says “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.” As we Decree the end result, such as “In the name of Jesus I decree I am debt free,” Then God’s light shines on our ways. He will show us what steps to take. His light, His revelation knowledge, enlightens our ways as He guides us in our steps.
Psalm 119:105 says “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” As we declare God’s word over our situations, acting in faith and praising God, then we have the courage to take the steps we need to take. As we do, our path is lit up so that we can take that next step of faith.
This principle works in the negative as well as the positive. Whenever the enemy wants us to do something, he usually doesn’t start out with something big. He does it little by little. One little compromise here, one little compromise there until you are doing things you never would have thought and on a path you never could have imagined you would take. Well, it works the same way in God’s kingdom. As you go line upon line, precept upon precept, a little here, a little there, next thing you know you are on a path you never imagined! God is able to do exceeding abundantly above what you could ask or think and bless you above what you ever imagined. Just take that first step!
Find the promises in God’s word that talk about his leading and guiding you, giving you wisdom. Then don’t only confess these scriptures, but take them by faith. Trust God that He is most assuredly guiding you. That He is taking you by the hand and leading you, just as John 10 says. God will give you the wisdom you need. He will show you exactly what to do and how to do it. He will order your steps. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Spend time in prayer, in His word, one on one with Him. Increase your time with the Lord and you will hear His voice more clearly so that He can direct you more clearly. In addition, as you spend time praying in the spirit, this brings you not only into God’s rest, but you are praying over things you may not know to pray for. As you do, then those things which seemed difficult before, will come easily.
Romans 8:26-27
“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
Psalm 37:23
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.”
Psalm 37:3-7 & 9
“Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him: and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him…those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.”
Hebrews 4:9-12
“There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Proverbs 4:11
“I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.”
Proverbs 1:5
“A wise man will hear; and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels.”
Proverbs 1:7
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge…”
Psalm 27:11
“Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.”
Psalm 31:3
“For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.”
Psalm 23:3
“He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”
James 1:5
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”
John 10:2-5
“But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and He calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for THEY KNOW HIS VOICE. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.”
