“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”
Ephesians 3:20-21
Notice the above scripture. God will do exceeding, abundantly above all we can ask or think. How? According to the POWER THAT WORKETH IN US! When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior and the infilling of the Holy Spirit, we receive the same Holy Spirit that anointed Jesus to do the works that He did on the earth. That is why Jesus was able to say in John 14:12: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” He continued: “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, AND SHALL BE IN YOU.” John 14:16-17
Acts 1:4-5 & 8, Jesus tells the disciples: “And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that thy should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence…But ye shall receive power; after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
In John 17:22-23 & 26 Jesus says: “And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one. I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou has loved me…And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it, that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, AND I IN THEM.”
When we as a church begin to comprehend the power of that glory that dwells on the inside of us, we will be unstoppable!! Jesus not only healed the sick, raised the dead, performed miracles of multiplication of the bread and food, provided finances supernaturally to pay their taxes, spoke to the wind and waves and commanded them to be at peace, stilled the storm, walked on water, brought healing to the broken hearted, freedom to the bound, preached the good news of the gospel, but the power that He walked in is the same power that is on the inside of us! Let’s look at a demonstration of His absolute power that we sometimes overlook.
In Mathew 26:47 is the account of when the soldiers came to take Jesus to begin the process of His trial and crucifiction. The scriptures say: “And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great MULTITUDE with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.” In Mark 14:43 it says: “And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great MULTITUDE with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.” You can see that when they came to get Jesus, they didn’t just send a few soldiers. Even though they knew He would just be with his few disciples, they understood that Jesus operated in great power. Therefore, they sent a multitude of soldiers to get him. However, little did they know, a multitude of soldiers is nothing before Jesus, the Great I Am! Let’s look what happened in John 18: 4-6, “Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I AM, And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. As soon then as he had said unto them, I AM, THEY WENT BACKWARD, AND FELL TO THE GROUND.” Think of this great power, Jesus simply used the name of God; the same name God told Moses when Moses asked who should he say sent me. As soon as he said this name, the MULTITUDE OF SOLDIERS WERE THROWN BACKWARDS AND FELL DOWN ON THE GROUND, simply by the force of Jesus’s words!! God’s word has power! This same power that was in Jesus, is in us! They could do nothing that Jesus didn’t allow. He allowed them to take Him, otherwise there was no way they could. Jesus told them, in Mathew 26:53: “Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?” They had no power to harm Jesus. They couldn’t take Him or touch Him without Jesus’s permission.
In Mark 13:34 Jesus said: “For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and GAVE AUTHORITY to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.” Jesus is telling us here, that as he left to be with the Father, until He returns, He’s given US, the church body, AUTHORITY over the earth.
In Mathew 18:18-20 Jesus tells us: “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
In Luke 17:20 & 21 Jesus tells us: “…The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or; lo there! for; BEHOLD, THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS WITHIN YOU.” Yes, we need to understand the great power that is within us, that when we speak, we can release this authority and power over the circumstances, just as Jesus did.
In John 16:15 Jesus said, “All things the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” Wow, He shall Show it unto us! Yes, through revelation knowledge, but also through His Covenant of blessing that others will be able to see. In Psalm 126:2 it says: “Then was our mouth filled with laughter; and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them”. You see, even those who do not know the Lord will be able to see God’s goodness in our lives so profoundly, that they will have to acknowledge that the Lord has DONE GREAT THINGS FOR US!! In Psalm 25:14 it says: “The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.” Wow. He will SHOW US HIS COVENANT. That means not only will He provide revelation about its deep meaning, but we will be able to see it manifested in our lives. Others will be able to see it and recognize it in our lives.
In Luke 10:19, Jesus said: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and NOTHING SHALL BY ANY MEANS HURT YOU.” Look at the authority over the enemy that God has given us! This promise is how Paul (as recorded in the book of Acts) could simply shake off a venomous snake that had bitten him and have no harmful effect. He knew the power on the inside of him was greater than any power that could come against him from the outside.
1 John 4:4 says: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
Yes, the anointing, the glory on the inside of us, is greater than anything that can come against us! We need to release that glory through our words and actions, just as Jesus did. As we speak to our circumstances, as in Mark 11:22-25 we will see the mountains removed. We will see the same works that Jesus did, operating in our lives. We need to take the authority He’s given us and speak to the circumstances. Decree God’s glory and watch God move on your behalf! “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.” Job 22:28. This is the victory that overcomes the world, Even our faith! And of course as always, walk in love, for faith worketh by LOVE!
Mark 11:22-25
“And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”
Mark 16:17-18 & 20
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover….And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.”
1 John 5:4-5
“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”
