When we say, Thanks be to God, we are saying we are willing to acknowledge him for what he has done and we are willing to give him the honor and appreciation for what he declares, so as believers in Christ Jesus we ought to be giving thanks to God. Our thanks should be directed to him. We give him thanks because he has given us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ as shown in 1st Corinthians 15:57. The reason we are told to give thanks is because we have already been given the victory.
