The term “Move forward” simply means to keep going, not turning back, and not standing still. Sometimes in life we do not realize that we may have done the latter two because time consistently moves, but we have not for various reasons. In Philippians 3 Paul discusses the worldly accomplishments of his past, he was a man that was esteemed highly. However, after his encounter with Christ, he considered those things which gave him prestige as “dung.”
Our scriptural nourishment for this devotional is Philippians 3:13-14.
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
So let’s chew on this (food for thought). If Paul could leave behind things that brought him glory and honor in the world, then we to can let go and leave behind anything that brings us shame. Sidebar: even though Paul was glorified by the world’s standards, shame was probably present after he realized that in his intelligence he was ignorant.
However, Paul was able to let it go and be fulfilled in God. He, God, wants us to prosper and move forward does not want us to stay in the past. Think about Lot’s wife. What happened to her when she looked back? Our mindsets should always looking forward, reaching toward God, desiring His intimacy. We must make the decision that God and His Word are the reward of our life. He is the Way. The Truth. The Light.
