I recently heard a pastor say, “Your life should be a sweet fragrance unto the Lord”. Subsequently, an image of God’s face came to mind. His nose was scrunched up and he was frowning, you know, the face you make when something smells awful.. Then I thought, If my life was a scent, how does it smell to God?
In Ephesians 5:2 it states, “And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour” Christ selflessness was pleasing to God. He acknowledged God in all His ways and gave His Father all the glory. When Jesus was baptized by John, a dove descended upon Him and a voice from above said “This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased”. Imagine if that experience was an aroma, how does it smell to you? Now, imagine how it smells to God.
Paul says that as believers we are to press toward to the mark of the higher calling to be like Jesus. As we go day to day, minute to minute, hour to hour and faith to faith let’s acknowledge the fragrance of our actions and compare it to the image we received from the above reference.
Just think would you want God to be scrunching His face because your life stinks? LOL
BE (as declared by our Father, as He said “Light Be” and it was) BE BLESSED because you are.
Peace!
