“God so loved the World.” Let that statement resonate with you. Imagine God in heaven sitting on His throne looking down at the world. What does he see? The Bible states that there is nothing new under the sun, so let’s imagine that the same behaviors and activities that occur now are similar to the time before Jesus manifested on Earth. There is evildoing all around us, selfishness, lust, murders, stealing and the list can go on, but God sits on His throne watching all of it and still loves us. WOW!
God’s love, the sacrifice of Jesus, made a way to deliver us from the evil nature of the world and the restoration of our fellowship with him. Before Jesus gave His life, on the cross, he spoke to the Father and said in John chapter 17 verse 4. “I have glorified thee on Earth: I have finished the work which thou gave me to do.”
Jesus’ life was about glorifying God, how? By doing the work: fulfilling the purpose God had for His life. Jesus healed the sick, comforted the mournful, multiplied the fish, raised Lazarus from the dead, turned water into wine, and taught in the temple. Jesus did all those things to glorify God.
Jesus said that we will do greater works than He did, why? To Glorify God! God so loved the world that He has given us, the believer, the power and authority to do as Jesus did, why? To be the light, to be the expressed image of God’s glory on earth, to be everything Jesus was, to be the bridge to eternal life.
Sometimes in life we get lost seeking for our purpose for living. When we are not aware of our purpose, we often have a sense of void. As believers our purpose our reason to live should be to glorify God in all we do. We must allow ourselves to be vessels of God’s love toward the world that He so loves.
