“Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.”
Isaiah 6:5
In this scripture, the prophet recounts when he saw the throne room of God. His response was one of fear, saying “I am undone” or ruined, basically because he was a sinner and was in God’s perfect presence. In Exodus 33:19-23 Moses asks God to show him His glory. God agrees but says He has to cover Moses with His hand so that he can only see His back parts. The Lord told Moses: “Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.” Exodus 33:20. There are many Christians today that still have this image of God. That He is lifted High up on a throne and that we can’t even dare to look at him lest we die. They see Him as perfect and Holy and us as just sinners saved by grace and that we are unworthy to be in God’s presence. They still see God and themselves as separated by a gulf of sin.
Some Christians draw the conclusion that man, being a sinner, can’t stand before God’s perfect and Holy presence. They still see God through this lens; That He is Holy and untouchable to us because we are just sinners saved by grace. This is a true statement if you have not received Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Indeed, you are then a sinner and are separated from God. However, this is not true if you have received Jesus as your Lord and Savior. In that case, this kind of mindset is incorrect and fosters an attitude of defeat and unworthiness.
Moses and Isaiah lived under the Old Covenant. The reason they couldn’t see God without fear of death is because they were not born again. They hadn’t received Jesus as their Lord and Savior because He hadn’t died for our sins yet and been glorified. They indeed were still sinners. Their sin had not yet been remitted. When they kept the law and brought their offerings their sins were covered (not washed away). They had not been made new creatures. They were still spiritually separated from God having the old sin nature. Therefore the Holy Spirit did not and could not indwell them. He would come upon them to anoint them for specific offices, but the Holy Spirit did not live inside them.
Thanks be to God that we have a new Covenant built on better promises! This is why in Revelation 4 we see a completely different account of a man standing in the throne room of God. Instead of being terrified, thinking he would die for standing in the presence of God, he comes boldly to the Throne of Grace! This was the Apostle John. He recounts in Revelation 4 how He was caught up in the spirit and saw God seated on His throne with the rainbow all around it. He went on to describe the throne room. However this time, unlike Isaiah’s account, there were people in the throne room. In Isaiah’s account, there were no other people there yet.
Jesus said in John 3:3 “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
2 Corinthians 5:17-21: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
We are made new. We are now the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. In Ephesians it says we are seated in heavenly places in Christ. This is why we can now come boldly to the throne of Grace. We are now God’s children! In fact, God lives on the inside of us! We are the temple of the living God. Think of that, we are carriers of God’s Glory! Therefore, get rid of any old thinking which tries to separate God from you. Yes, He is still on His throne, but He is also in our hearts, and we are seated in Heavenly places with Him! When you get the revelation of what God has done in your life by making you new, then you realize the power that dwells in you and you are able to walk in the authority He has given you! You are already made righteous. You do not have to do anything to become righteous, you are already made righteous by the blood of Jesus! You are already Holy and perfect in your spirit. You now simply need to renew your mind with the Word of God to get your thinking to line up with what already went on in your spirit. Your spirit was born again, but your soul was not. Therefore you need to wash your mind (Soul) with the Word of God to get your thinking and emotions and will to line up with what God has already done in your spirit. Do not be carnally minded. Allow your mind to be washed with the Word of God so that you walk in the spirit and not by the flesh.
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2
The reason you have a desire to do right in your heart is because you have been made right by God! We don’t live a Holy Life in order to be made right with God, we live a Holy life because we have already been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. We are now under grace, so the works we do are not the works of the law but the works of Faith born out of love.
Just walk out the Holiness of God in your life that is already in you. Tap into that power and glory to defeat any area in life that has been holding you back! Get a revelation of who you are in Christ and take your position as a king and priest on the earth. God has given you everything you need to succeed. All you have to do is walk in faith on the promises of God, determined to live Holy because it is who you already are. In the new covenant, our reason for living Holy Lives is because we want to represent Jesus well. We want to make Him look good! We want to be good ambassadors. Out of gratefulness for what He has done for us, we want to glorify and exalt Him in our daily conversations and lives. When you begin to walk and live a Holy life out of love for God, it is so much easier to do because it is born out of a heart of Faith and gratitude which frees you to be who God has already made you to be. Let’s take our position of right standing with God and authority on the earth that God has already paid so much for through the blood of Jesus and rule and reign with Christ Jesus!
Ephesians 2:6-9
“And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
1 Peter 1:15
“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;”
Revelation 5:9-10
“And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”
Galatians 5:15-25
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
