“BLESSED is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD: and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season: his leaf also shall not wither: and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
Psalm 1:1-3
During the recent heat wave you may have noticed that many of the avocado trees, along with a good number of other fruit trees, were scorched. Many had dead branches, leaves and almost the entire tree was lost. Yet some avocado trees seemed to do just fine, and still looked healthy and green. The reason that some were scorched was not only due to the heat, but to how well the tree had been prepared to handle the upcoming heat wave. The trees that did well had been deep watered before, during and after the extreme heat. The trees that were scorched, but still survived, were those that had only normal amounts of water used for the regular lawn watering. The trees that completely succumbed hadn’t had nearly enough water for a long time and so were not prepared to handle the extreme heat. As a result, they died when the heat intensified.
Water is often used as a symbol both for The Word of God and the Holy Spirit. John 4:10 & 14 “Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knowest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink: thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water…But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst: but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
Jesus also said in John 7:38 “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” The scriptures also tell us to wash our minds with the water of God’s Word (Ephesians), and that when we are rooted and grounded in God’s Word, meditating on it day and night we are like a tree planted by the rivers of waters and our leaves will stay green and we will be fruitful. (Psalm 1).
When we are born again, receiving Jesus in our hearts and the baptism of the Holy Spirit with our heavenly language, we receive not only the wells of waters of salvation but rivers of living water flowing in us and out of us. However, we must still wash our minds (souls) with the Word of God. Our souls were not born again. We still have the same old soul (mind, emotions, will). Therefore as we wash our minds with the Word of God, we are able to get it to line up with what took place in our spirit. It becomes renewed and we are then able to walk by the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
Therefore, to stay well watered, fresh and able to handle any situation that comes; we must both stir up those rivers of water already in us, as well as wash our minds (souls) with the Word of God in order to renew our minds and keep our Faith reservoir ever filled and increasing.
The way we can stir up those rivers of living waters inside of us is to pray in the Spirit. The more we pray in the Spirit (our heavenly language) the more we access and stir up those waters. We stay well watered. In addition, we need to renew our mind with the Word of God. It needs to constantly be watered with the Word. It’s best to always do DEEP WATERING , not just a little sprinkling of the Word here and there. As we stay immersed in the Word, through hearing it, reading it, singing it and saying it, we stay well watered. Then, when the drought comes and there is an attack from the enemy, while others may succumb to the attack, we will come out looking just as fresh and green as ever. In fact, we will bear fruit as a result and become even more prosperous than before, like the tree planted in Psalms 1. We will have those waters stirred up that we can tap into. Our minds will be well watered and fresh, ready for the battle. Our Faith reservoir will be full and we are able to use our faith to enforce the victory.
Water yourself today with a deep watering by praying in the Spirit, reading and hearing the Word and spending time with the Lord. Stay Well Watered so you can continue to bear fruit in any season!
