“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings [words] of mine and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house; and it fell not, for it was founded upon a rock.”
Mathew 7:24-25
There are times in life when it seems like we are being hit from every side; as though a Tsunami of circumstances has come against us, seemingly from every direction. Yet notice what Jesus says in the above scripture. When the storms come and even beat against our house, if our house is built on His Word, then it will remain standing. The storm will cease, the clouds will clear and that house will be standing strong. Why? Because it was built on the Word of God. When we hear the Word of God and put it into practice in our lives, then we can weather any storm that comes against us and come out victoriously on the other side. God’s word is our strong tower.
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” Proverbs 18:10 The name of Jesus is our Protection. He is the living Word of God. When we stand on His WORD and not just hear it, but do it, we are put in a place of safety. Nothing can harm us. We are Untouchable.
When you think of the greatest storm to ever hit this earth, most think back to the flood of Noah’s time. Yet, in the midst of this massive deluge, Noah and his family were kept safe in that seemingly tiny ark (in comparison to the raging storm outside). Yet, Noah was obedient and faithful to build the ark despite no evidence of rain, let alone a storm. In Noah’s time, the earth hadn’t yet been watered by rain. When God told him what was to come, Noah didn’t just listen, he acted and began doing what God told him to do, despite how silly it looked to those around him. Year after year he continued building the ark with no sign of rain. He acted in faith on the Word of God. He walked by faith, not by sight. As a result he saved his entire family. As he did his part in building the ark, God finished it by shutting the door with His own Hand before the deluge came. Noah and his family and the animals with him were safe in that ark. They weren’t even touched by the storm because he had made preparation just as the Lord had commanded. It didn’t matter how terrible the storm was outside the ark, it didn’t touch Noah. He only heard it with his ears; much like Psalm 91:7 “A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.”
Psalm 46:1-3 & 7 says: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early…The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.”
The Word of God is our ark. When we hear it and are obedient to act on it, we are building an ark, not only for ourselves but our entire family. We are building a place of safety. When the storm comes it will not touch us. We will stand strong and victorious safe in the ark of God’s Word.
Psalm 27:1-5
“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: Therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.”
Psalm 91
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.”
Psalm 23
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”
Psalm 121
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”
Psalm 105:8-10 &14-15
“He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac; And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant…He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes; Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.”
Galatians 3:13-14
“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”
