“But what sayith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart; that is, the word of faith which we preach: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:8-10
The above scripture gives us the principle for how we receive anything from God. First we believe in our heart, then confession is made unto salvation. If you say you believe Jesus died for your sins, but you don’t believe it in your heart, you aren’t yet saved. Likewise, if you say you believe in your heart but will not confess Him with your mouth as your Lord, (you refuse to say it), then again you are not yet saved. You have to do both, believe in your heart and confess with your mouth to receive salvation.
This sounds just like what Jesus said in Mark 11:22-26: “And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”
The same principle of believing and speaking applies for activating all the promises of God in our lives. Whether we are believing for finances, healing, or anything else, we speak the promises of God. We are made in God’s image. He created the earth, the Universe and every living thing by His Word. In the beginning God SAID Let there be light, and there was light. This is how we walk in the God kind of faith, we believe and then we SAY what God says about the situation. Jesus said in John 6:63, “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” The Word of God is literally Spirit and Life. It is the LIVING WORD of GOD. When we speak His Word we are putting the Spirit of God and life into work. Everything was created by God’s Word so everything is programmed to respond to His Word. When we speak His Word, the natural world responds and begins to line up with His Word because it was created by His Word.
Proverbs 18:21 says: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
We can speak life to our situations or death. Depending upon what we say, depends upon what we will have. Choose words of life and blessing, not death and cursing. Cursing does not just mean curse words, but anything that you say that is negative or complaining is speaking curses. We need to put a watch over our mouths to only say what God says about the situation, instead of what we see.
This is why I believe God named Abram, Abraham: “Father of many nations” or another translation says “Father of Multitudes”. Abraham was childless and well along in years when God gave him this name. Everywhere Abraham went, when they would ask his name, he would now respond: “Father of many nations”. Whenever someone called him they called: “Father of many nations”. His very name was the promise of God over Himself and Sarah. As he kept hearing this, faith kept building in his heart. Romans 10:17 says: “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Romans 4:16-21 says, “Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.”
Abraham grew stronger in faith. The more he heard himself and others call his name, “Father of Many nations” the more it built faith in his heart. Faith grew so strong until both he and Sarah were fully convinced and the promise came to pass.
Whatever you are having faith for, find the scriptures concerning God’s promises and speak them over yourself. You may not feel like you have the faith for it at first, and may just be speaking the promises in hope, more than in faith; but as you continue to speak the word, faith will continue to build until it finally overflows in your heart and the promise manifests in your life.
We need to put a watch over our mouths and get the promises of God so overflowing in our hearths that they come out of our mouth when under pressure. As we hear God’s word and speak it, it continues to build faith in our heart until we hit the overflow point. When we speak God’s promises, with hearts filled we get results! Faith does not take no for an answer. Fight the good fight of faith by using your words as tools to build the future God has promised you!
Proverbs 4:20-22
“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”
Psalm 107:20
“He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”
Hebrews 11:1-3
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”
2 Corinthians 4:18
“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Mathew 12:34-37
“…for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”
Romans 4:3
“ For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.”
John 1:1-14
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
