“Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds; but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.”
Matthew 13:31-32
When a farmer plants a seed, he expects it to produce a crop. He takes that tiny seed and covers it with dirt, so the seed is completely buried. He then waters that seed, expecting it to grow. He doesn’t keep staring at the ground waiting for it to sprout. He doesn’t dig it up to see if it is growing and end up killing the crop. He also doesn’t say, “That dirt is too dirty, nothing can grow in it.” No, instead, he has enough sense to trust that underneath that dirt, that seed is beginning to grow and that it will produce a crop. All he has to do is to keep watering it. Just as Jesus said in Mark 4:26-29 “So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear; after that the full corn in the ear. But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.”
In Luke 8 Jesus tells the parable of a sower sowing seed in the ground. He then explains what that seed is in Luke 8:11: “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.” When you plant the word of God into the dirt of your life, it might look like there is no way the word could produce anything in that situation; but you keep watering that seed and watch it grow. In fact, if you have unpleasant situations, or even circumstances that look just about as bad as any you’ve ever seen, then that is the perfect place to plant the word of God; like that dirt – once the seed is planted, all you have to do is continue to water it and believe. Have stedfast unmovable faith that THE WORD will do what it is supposed to. Just like Isaiah 55 says: “For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither; but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower; and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth; it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.”
Therefore, when you release the word of God over a situation, do not dig it up by speaking words of doubt. Even if your mind is tempted to doubt, don’t speak it. Speak the word of God only over the situation, so that word can take root and grow. Don’t let the doubt in your mind creep into your heart through your meditating on it and through your words. Don’t let the cares and worries of life choke the word. Instead, keep watering that word with the Word of God, calling those things that be not as though they were. The enemy will try to make it look like it’s not working and may even try to make it look like the opposite is happening, because as it says in Mark 4:17 “affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake”. The enemy is trying to keep that word from being fruitful in your life. He’s trying to kill the crop; but as you trust God and stay on the word with a stubborn faith, you will see the victory. You will eventually see the bumper harvest. You may have been believing God for a long time regarding a situation, but don’t give up. Let the word of God do the work. Trust that God’s word will not return void but that it will produce just as He said it would. Plant those WORDS in faith, water them, and watch the kingdom of God grow and produce in your life!
Mathew 13:3-8
“Behold, a sower went forth to sow; And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundred fold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. Who hath ears to hear; let him hear.”
Mathew 13:19-23
When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
John 6:63
“It is the spirit that quickenth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
Job 22:28
“Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee; and the light shall shine upon thy ways.”
Proverbs 4:20-23
“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.”
Psalm 103:19-20
“The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His word.”
Ephesians 6:14-18
“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness. And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace: Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints…”
Romans 4:17-25
“(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Who against hope believed in hope that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord form the dead. Who was delivered for our offences and was raised again for our justification.”
