“In a little wrath, I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer. For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee. For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee. O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with saphires. And I will make thy windows agates, and thy gates carbuncles, and all thy borders pleasant stones. And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children. In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.”
Isaiah 54:8-14
The above scripture is talking about the new covenant before it came to pass. The wrath is when Jesus hung on that cross and God poured all the sins of the world onto His Son to pay the price for our sins; to take on our sins and suffer the penalty in our place. Yet, when all was fulfilled, Jesus was resurrected and we entered into that new covenant where God would never be angry with His children. Praise God, we are in the time of Great Grace! We are the redeemed of the Lord! We are no longer subject to the curse of the law because Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law, becoming a curse for us, so that the blessings of Abraham would come on us by faith! Jesus fulfilled the law and now we operate in the time of abundant mercy and grace. (see Galatians 13-14).
We need to get that revelation down on the inside of us of just how much our God loves us. What He did for us when we were yet sinners! How much more he wants to pour out his loving kindness on us now that we are His very own children.
Romans 5:8-11 says:
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.”
Think of that! How much more being reconciled shall we be saved by HIS life! Romans 8:17-18 goes onto say: “For if by one man’s offence [Adam] death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.”
What amazing grace we have entered into! It is so important to get out of a condemnation/punishment mindset and receive the love of God! He wants to pour out His love on you lavishly! Are you ready to receive it? You may feel you don’t deserve it. Yet, if you have children, think about your love for them. Do they really deserve all the goodness you desire to pour out on them? Each day they make their share of mistakes. Yet you still continue to love them and provide for them, desire to have them be healthy, happy and fulfilled. Any good parent desires the best for their children. Even when they miss it and make a mistake, we still want the very best for them. How much more, does our perfect Father want for us! How much more forgiving, and loving He is toward us even when we miss it.
Jesus said in Mathew 7:7-11:
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”
It’s our Father in Heaven’s great desire to bless us! He says in Psalm 35:27 “Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.”
If God takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servants, how much more is He pleased when His very own children are prospering! It’s His desire that we prosper and be in health. When we are able to get the revelation of His love for us, we are able to receive His lavish love and grace poured out on us.
Does this mean we can do whatever we want because of God’s grace? The scriptures show clearly this is not the case. When we truly have a heart for God, and are born again, we have a new nature because we are a new creation. It therefore is the desire of our hearts to do what is right and good in His sight. The more we renew our mind with the word of God, the more we mature in our walk with Him. When we grow in the revelation of God’s love for us, it becomes easier to keep His commandments because we know how valuable we are to Him and we desire to please Him and represent Him well. It’s also much easier to love others when we get the revelation of how much we are loved by God.
Take some time and reflect on the scriptures about God’s love for you. Thank Him for that love. Praise Him and love on Him as well and watch God move mightily on your behalf! If you miss it, simply repent, ask for forgiveness and receive God’s abundant mercy and grace!
Psalm 103:1-5 & 10-13
“Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases. Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s…He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the ehaven is high above the earth, so great is hi mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. “
Romans 8:31-35 & 37-39
“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? …”Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Ephesians 2:8-10
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
Romans 8:1
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
