For He is the Good Shepard, Are you his sheep? His sheep hear his voice. To hear his voice, you must know Him. To know Him, you must get familiar with his voice through his Word. In Jeremiah 24:7 “I will give them a heart to know me, that I am Lord. They will be my people and I will be their God.”
If you are a believer in Christ, you have the Spirit of God in you. But you have to feed your Spirit with the Word of God.
To know Him goes deeper than just knowing facts about him, you have to share your experiences with Him.
John 10:14, 27-28, “I am the good Shepard, I know my sheep and they know my voice.” Get to know his voice:
- Schedule time to talk and pray and meditate with God daily- Joshua 1:8
- Read his Word daily and obey his Word- John 14:15, 21, 23
- Start with the Book of Proverbs, read one chapter a day. There are 31 chapters, on the 1st day of the month read Proverbs 1, on the 2nd day of the month read Proverbs 2. You can start with any chapter.
- Trust God in every circumstance- Proverbs 3:5
- Wait on the Lord for his direction- Psalm 27:14
- Depend on the Holy Spirit- John 16:16-18
- Rest in the assurance that God is in absolute control of your life- Psalm 103:19
