FOOD FOR THOUGHT: II CORINTHIANS 3:18
“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
A mirror reflects the image of a person. As we allow the Spirit of the Lord to work in us and through us, the image of Jesus is reflected in us to the world. When the world beholds us, they are beholding the character—the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, meekness, goodness, gentleness, faith/faithfulness, and temperance of the Lord Jesus Christ manifested in our lives. Those seeds were planted at the new birth; however, they must be watered by praying in the spirit and understanding; reading and studying the Word; meditating on the Word; confessing the Word; performing or doing the Word; assembling ourselves among fellow believers regularly and sharing the Word with others.
When the mirrored-image is blurred, there is an indication that there may be some dirt, or spot, or smudge, or fog precluding a clear picture image. When the believer’s mirror is blurred or not in focus, this may also indicate that they have become contaminated with the defilement of the world. Therefore, immediate repentance (a change of mindset) should be asked and received by faith. As the Apostle Paul has indicated in one of his epistles, that the believer should forget those things which are behind them and continue to walk in the spirit and deny or put to death or mortify the flesh.
