“But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
-Psalms 1:2-3 (KJV)
Consistency is the key in everything in life. We must practice consistently if we want to excel in sports, music, teaching, public speaking and anything else that is not an unconscious part of our being such as breathing and blinking.
For example, cake frosting, which is made up of flavoring, butter, powdered sugar and sometimes food coloring must be the right consistency in order for it to operate properly on a cake. Too thin and the top layers of the cake may slide off on the ground and go SPLAT! Too thick and the frosting may cause the cake to break about into crumbs as the icing is being spread over the cake. A baker must practice for hours and hours before he or she becomes skilled at making frosting with the perfect consistency!
This is how we must learn to practice studying the Word of God. We must create our recipe for meditating on the Word day and night. Whether yours is to read a chapter a day and take notes and read those notes aloud, or to watch the Word taught and take note of the scriptures for later study, we must create our recipe for consistent study.
Try filling a notebook with scriptures that apply to what you are believing for, or writing scriptures on post-its and leaving on the fridge or your bathroom mirror. Whatever it takes to create a consistent habit of saying what God says about every situation you may face. Consistency is key!
