I want things to go faster: prayers answered, work, laundry, etc. I also want things to go slower: days off, sleep, vacations, etc. Then again all this concentration on waiting or rushing creates a layer of discontent that disturbs faith.
Ken Copeland and Bill Winston addressed this issue on BVOV with Peter’s remarkable scripture.
“One day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years is as one day.” (2 Pet. 3:8)
The world’s system is 24/7/365; the Lord’s is not. His Kingdom goes on and on, past, present, and future without limits.
Copeland also said, “Don’t discard the delay,” and added that a delay may save you from a plane crash. While dramatic, this example made his point, and I spent time with these scriptures: (Josh.10:12,13).
“Then spoke Joshua to the Lord…and he said in the sight of Israel, ’Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon, and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.’
And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed.”
In other words, time stopped, until “the people avenged themselves upon their enemies.” Food for thought; faith doesn’t need to count hours, days, and weeks. “Now faith is…” (Heb. 11:1)
